We are very excited to be sending you this invitation to an event honoring our Sensei, Grandmaster Eizo Shimabukuro. He has now been teaching for 60 years, and there are thousands of us who have been fortunate to be his students. We hope you will be able to join us.

The banquet will be held on Saturday, October 11 at the Holiday Inn Grand Ballroom in Waterbury, CT. Their address is:

There will be a demonstration, presentations to O’Sensei, and a buffet meal. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to sheree.adams@toyei.com. We would appreciate your RSVP as soon as possible, but the deadline is July 1st. You will then receive a registration packet, which will need to be returned with payment by August 15th. The cost for the event is $75, which will include the meal, a special T-shirt and a commemorative book.

Banquet
All students of O’Sensei who are in good standing are welcome to attend. Family members are also invited. We would appreciate any email addresses or mailing addresses of students that we may not know about. Please feel free to print out the banquet flyer and put it up in your dojo or post it to your web site. The banquet flyer is included as an Adobe Acrobat attachment.

Demonstration
We are welcoming demonstrations of Shobayashi Shorin Ryu Karate, Toyei no Jujutsu, and the Kobudo that O’Sensei teaches. Once we see how many schools/individuals are interested in participating, we will be able to give you the time parameters for each dojo or individual.

Friday Night Training
On Friday night, October 10, O’Sensei will be teaching a class which is open to all students who are attending the banquet. The class will be held at the Holiday Inn from 6 to 8 PM. A white gi is required for all attendees. Registration for the class is included on the registration form. The cost is $70.

Historical Contributions
We are looking for old photos/8mm movies/videos/etc. that we can use in the book or as a display for the banquet. Any contribution of this type will be used for the purposes of the book/banquet only and you will be credited as providing the photo/footage. Any originals will be returned to you.

Book
The event will also feature a commemorative book with history, photos, and pages for each dojo. There will be a separate form to send in for your dojo page or a personal comment/tribute you would like to contribute. If you would like to be in the book you will need to request a book form. We will need the information for the book by July 10th at the latest. If you'd like to be included in the book, but can’t attend the banquet, we’re asking for a $25 fee to help cover the cost of printing the book.

With your registration info, we will send you hotel information.

  1. Once you RSVP, we’ll send you a registration form. Registration and payment is due by August 15th. Each dojo should send in one request for registration forms (the exact number required as they are numbered for organizational purposes) and one book contribution form.
  2. Let us know if you’d like to participate in the demonstration, so we can allocate time appropriately.
  3. Fill in the book form and return it by July 10th.
  4. Let us know if you have photos or footage that you would like to contribute to the banquet presentation.
  5. Let us know of anyone else who should receive an invitation.
We are honored to participate in this celebration to honor O’Sensei’s tremendous contributions of the past 60 years. We thank everyone that has contributed to this event.
