What type of account do I have?
You have an ftp-only account. This is to ensure that the machines remain dedicated to serving your website. That is, there is no other activity going taking place on the webserver.
How much storage space do I have and how can I see my quota?
Basic accounts come with 30M of storage. We use quota to control disk space usage. Each week, the status of your quota is reported at the top of your analyzed logs. Additional space is available. Email webhelp@inch.com or call support at 212-243-5200 to arrange for more.
Where is my home directory?
Your actual directory is /home/username/ . When you login, you will see something telling you that your directory is "/". This simply means that you can only access files within your own home directory (and other people cannot access your files).
What does my directory structure look like?
If you type "dir" at the top level of your directory, you'll see something like this:
drwxr-xr-x 4 1000 500 1024 Aug 9 16:08 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 1000 500 1024 Aug 9 16:08 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Jul 31 18:08 bin
drwxr-xr-x 2 0 0 1024 Sep 9 05:01 rawlogs
drwxr-xr-x 3 1000 500 1024 Jun 28 20:15 www

The "bin" directory is for administrative purposes (you can't write to it). "rawlogs" contains compressed copies of your access logs. See our Crunchlog FAQ for more information.
Where do I put my webpage files?
All documents that are visible to the www need to be placed in the www directory. I.e. in the Apache config file, DocumentRoot="/home/username/www/"
Where is my cgi-bin located?
If you requested a cgi-bin directory, it is placed in the absolute path /home/username/www/cgi-bin. You see it in /www/cgi-bin i.e., in the Apache config file, ScriptAlias="/home/username/www/cgi-bin/"

If you did not request a cgi-bin directory, then you have a default set of scripts available for your use.
