Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore has been a long-time champion of free jazz and improvised music and has often organized showcases for such music, like this one which took place at the Cooler in New York City. For the poster design, we took a found image and manipulated it until it appeared to be just texture and placed it behind asymmetrical typography laid out in randomly differing scales, which was in keeping with the spirit of the event.
